Berlin Sirens Blare As Germany Launches Nationwide Warning Test
Germany’s sixth nationwide warning day took place on Thursday, September 10, 2026, with loud sirens sounding during the nationwide test captured in a video filmed by Christiane Meusel.
The footage records a Berlin street as the warning system is activated, with the sirens clearly audible throughout the scene.
The nationwide test began at around 11:00 using Germany’s modular warning system, including Cell Broadcast, NINA and Katwarn apps, radio and television, digital displays, and optional municipal sirens and loudspeaker vans.
For the first time, Cell Broadcast also carried the all-clear, while DAB+ Automatic Safety Alert was added.
Participation by local sirens is voluntary. Replies to the video noted silent sirens in Hamburg-Lokstedt and other neighborhoods, while phones still sounded.
The video provides a resident’s street-level recording of the warning test in Berlin.
