Activist Storms AI Summit Stage And Gets Arrested In Montreal

A supporter of Last Generation Canada was arrested after disrupting ALL IN in Montréal by taking the stage and delivering a speech condemning the AI industry’s ties to the climate crisis.

The action began at around 4:30 p.m. ET. The activist remained detained by police as of 8 p.m.

Last Generation Canada is demanding that the Canadian government introduce a billionaire tax and establish a legally binding citizens’ assembly to decide how the resulting funds should be used for climate change mitigation.

The group says the AI industry is accelerating energy demand while the world needs to reduce emissions. It also argues that wealth should be redirected from the richest toward climate action.

The activist said: “Why try to disrupt such an event? I believe it is a moral duty to do so.”

The action follows recent escalations from the anti-AI movement, including the All Out demonstration and broken windows at Mila – Québec AI Institute.
