84-Year-Old Man With Cognitive Impairment Rescued From Muddy Woods In Maine

An 84-year-old man with cognitive impairment was safely located after he was reported missing on September 8, following several hours without being seen.

The Wells Police Department’s Drone Unit and K9 Unit were deployed to search for him and located him in a wooded area, where he was lying on wet, muddy ground.

Thermal footage showed the man’s heat signature in a wooded drainage area. A closer view showed him among rocks and mud beneath the trees.

Wells Fire and EMS responded and removed him from the woods using an orange basket stretcher. He was then transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

The man’s name was not released, and his face was blurred in the released footage.
