48 Chihuahuas And 8 Cats Rescued From Neglected Madrid Home
Police rescued 48 Chihuahua dogs and eight mixed-breed cats from a home in the Moratalaz district after a complaint about loud noises led officers to the property on September 11.
A patrol entered the home at around 10:30 p.m. and found a large amount of dirt and numerous animals living in conditions of poor hygiene and neglect.
The 56 animals were found with inadequate food and insufficient cleaning, conditions that compromised their welfare.
The person living in the home, who had Diogenes syndrome, was taken to a hospital for care.
The animals were rescued, and appropriate resources were activated to provide for their care and welfare.
