Oklahoma, United States – A wrong-way driver struck a trooper's patrol vehicle on the Turner Turnpike, bringing the vehicle to a stop against a roadside wall, Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Dashcam footage shows headlights approaching on the dark road before a pickup collides with the patrol vehicle. The video then shows the pickup stopped directly in front of the camera and an officer approaching the driver's side.

The patrol said Trooper Patrick Ball encountered the driver travelling east in the westbound lanes near mile marker 161 at about 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, according to the agency’s account. Despite the trooper activating his emergency lights, the vehicle continued at approximately 40 mph, the agency said.

The driver was taken to hospital for evaluation and later booked into jail on charges including driving under the influence, according to the patrol.
