Texas Deputies Jog Loose Donkey And Horses Away From Busy Interstate
Sheriff’s deputies in Texas rounded up two horses and a donkey that were wandering loose beside Interstate 35, leading them to safety on ropes.
Footage released by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office shows the animals grazing on a grassy embankment as trucks pass on the highway. Deputies were called at about 5:45 p.m. on October 11 to the south side of the county, near I-35 and Kinney Road, and found the animals less than 50 feet from the road.
The video shows a deputy jogging along the shoulder with the donkey trotting beside him on a yellow rope as a patrol car follows with its lights flashing. “Come on, let’s go,” another deputy says as he leads the donkey through the grass, while bodycam footage shows a horse walking calmly at an officer’s shoulder.
“These animals were not under the control of any person and presented a safety hazard to themselves and the public,” the sheriff’s office said. According to deputies, the owner was found and took steps to keep all three animals secured.
