Skeleton Army Takes Over New York Brownstone Stoop
Dozens of skeletons wrapped in cobwebs have taken over the front steps of a brownstone on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in one of the neighborhood’s most elaborate Halloween displays.
X user NYC Photographer filmed the decorations at 241 West 71st Street on October 18, joking that “even the skeletons can’t afford to leave New York City.” The stoop is packed from sidewalk to front door with skeletons sitting, sprawling and clinging to the railings, many draped in thick fake webbing and lit by glowing purple lights.
Close-ups show skeletons with glowing blue eyes, a mummified figure hanging from the railing, a skeleton slumped beside a skull at the foot of the steps, and webbing stretched across the entire entrance, while taxis and pedestrians pass on the street outside.
Upper West Side brownstone blocks are known for their competitive Halloween decorating, drawing crowds of families and trick-or-treaters through the neighborhood every October.
