Police Officer Confronts Deadly Rattlesnake With Snake Hook On Home Patio

A police officer confronts a deadly rattlesnake with a long snake hook on a residential patio as warm weather brings more snakes into the area.

The officer, wearing a dark uniform and vest, stands beside a stone wall while holding the hook out in front of him. Patio furniture and a bucket are visible nearby.

The Arvada Police Department posted the footage on July 28 as an awareness warning about rattlesnakes appearing around open spaces, trails and rocky ground.

Police urged residents not to handle or move snakes, to keep dogs on leashes, stay on trails and leave snakes an escape route.

The department said rattlesnakes help control mice and other rodents and warned that most bites happen when people try to approach, catch or kill a snake.
