Mountain Rescuer Carries Dog On His Back While Climbing Exposed Rocky Ridge

A mountain rescuer carries a dog strapped to his back while climbing an exposed rocky ridge high above a green valley.

Video shows GREIM Jaca handler Kiko Navarro wearing a neon-green helmet and vest with a Spanish flag patch as he uses a rope and grips the rock face while moving along the narrow ledge.

A Belgian Malinois named Unkar rides in a red harness secured to Navarro’s back, staying strapped to him as he continues across the exposed terrain.

The Guardia Civil posted the footage to show how Navarro carries Unkar when ice, a vertical rock face or exhaustion prevents the dog from walking on her own.

Unkar is a female Belgian Malinois trained for avalanche searches with the Jaca mountain unit.
