Sainte-Mère-Église, France – U.S. service members joined French, German, and Dutch service members for a D-Day commemoration airborne jump near Sainte-Mère-Église, France, on June 7, 2026.

The operation brought together multinational forces in a static line parachute jump over a historic battlefield linked to the Battle of Normandy during World War II.

Most of the U.S. participants were members of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, the 82nd Airborne Division, and the 75th Ranger Regiment.

The airborne tribute formed part of ceremonies marking the anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The Allied invasion of Normandy is recognized as one of the largest multinational amphibious assaults and airborne operations in history.

It also marked a turning point in World War II, beginning the process that led to the end of the conflict in Europe.
