Fighter Jets Roar Off USS George Washington in Middle East
U.S. Navy fighter jets blasted off and landed on the aircraft carrier USS George Washington as the warship operates in the Middle East.
Footage released by the U.S. Navy shows F/A-18 Super Hornets catapulting off the flight deck at dusk and an F-35C stealth fighter coming in to land, while deck crews in colored jerseys guide the aircraft into position.
The Nimitz-class carrier (CVN 73) is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations “to support maritime security and stability in the Middle East,” the Navy said. The video was filmed in mid-October and released by U.S. Naval Forces Central Command Public Affairs on October 20.
