Deer Climbs Ladder Out of Michigan Backyard Pool After Falling Through Cover
Livonia, United States – A deer climbed a firefighters' ladder out of a backyard swimming pool in Livonia, Michigan, after falling through the cover.
Footage released by Livonia Fire & Rescue shows the animal swimming in the partially drained pool on Tuesday, November 3, before an extension ladder is lowered in and the deer scrambles up onto the deck and runs off.
Police arrived first and called firefighters for help. With the pool partially drained, the deer could not get enough footing to climb out on its own, the department said. Once the ladder was in place, it rescued itself and appeared uninjured.
The department said the call may have been a first for its crews and urged residents to inspect pool covers and consider wildlife escape ramps.
