Bull Elk Bugles Across Washington Wildlife Park During Fall Rut
A large bull elk moves from tall pines and ferns into an open grassy field, bugling with its mouth open as other elk gather near the tree line at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park.
The bull, with a dark neck and full antlers, walks across the meadow while repeatedly calling out during the fall rut.
Northwest Trek shared the footage with a caption noting that its current lead bull is busy bugling around the Free-Roaming Area.
The park keeps Roosevelt elk in a large drive-through habitat. Mid-to-late September marks the rut, when bull elk bugle as they work to hold harems.
