Army Golden Knights Build Head-Down Formation High Over El Paso

Parachutists from the U.S. Army’s Golden Knights team linked up in a complex hybrid formation in freefall high above El Paso during the Amigo Airsho.

Footage released by the U.S. Army, filmed from a helmet camera, shows the jumpers leaping from the aircraft over the desert, trailing red smoke as they come together, some flat in a belly-to-earth ring while others hang upside down in head-down positions beneath them.

The maneuver combines traditional formation skydiving with vertical freefall and highlights the team’s precision, coordination and advanced freefall skills, the Army said. The video was filmed on October 25.
