Adorable Tree Kangaroo Munches On Broccoli At Perth Zoo
Six-year-old Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo Taro enjoys a snack of broccoli at Perth Zoo in footage released by the zoo.
Taro is seen close to the camera in his green enclosure, chewing broccoli before holding a floret in his claws and eating it.
Taro arrived from Victoria on September 21, 2026, as part of a globally coordinated breeding program. Keepers said he is settling into his new home in the treetops.
He has also been getting to know his new neighbour, Muku, the zoo’s youngest female tree kangaroo. Keepers have observed the pair watching and sniffing each other through their habitats.
Perth Zoo Australian Fauna Keeper Bronte Winterbottom said Taro was becoming more confident and curious as he explored his new surroundings.
The zoo plans to introduce Taro and Muku for breeding in the future. Goodfellow’s tree kangaroos are endangered and native to the rainforests of Papua New Guinea.
