On September 5, at the direction of U.S. Southern Command, Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere forces successfully interdicted a multi-vessel floating refueling station supporting illicit at-sea drug trafficking operations.

Intelligence confirmed that the vessels were operating in support of the Los Choneros violent narco-terrorist organization.

Individuals removed from the main vessel were transferred to Ecuadorian authorities. After the main vessel was cleared and its crew disembarked, U.S. forces sank the main vessel and the attached support vessels.

Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere continues to conduct precise and professional operations aimed at dismantling the logistical networks fueling narco-trafficking in the Western Hemisphere.
