The Moon And Venus Meet In A Striking Twilight Sky
A thin crescent Moon appeared in a pink-and-blue twilight sky above rooftops and streetlights, with a bright point of light shining just below its lower tip.
Video filmed by X user Sagar5555 shows the camera zooming toward the crescent and bright object as thin clouds drift across both. The footage was shot on a phone in Mudhol town, Karnataka, at around 6:30 p.m. on September 14, 2026. Sunset that day was about 6:33 p.m.
Sagar5555 posted the clip that day asking whether the bright object was Venus or another planet. He later said the video was his and provided the location and time.
The Moon was about 12 percent lit, while Venus slipped behind it from parts of India that evening. In Kolkata, the disappearance was around 6:00 p.m., with reappearance around 6:20 p.m. Kerala saw disappearance around 5:20 p.m. and reappearance around 6:45 p.m.
Southern cities including Bengaluru, Chennai and Kochi could see Venus hidden between about 5:00 and 6:15 p.m., while Delhi and much of northern India saw only a close pairing. India’s overall window was about 2:56 p.m. to 7:12 p.m. IST.
At 6:30 p.m., the Mudhol footage shows Venus already beside the crescent. The next Venus occultation of 2026 is November 7 and will not be visible from India.
