Bloomfield, United States – Texas fire crews pulled residents and their pets from floodwater in Bloomfield, New Mexico, after rivers rose following heavy rain upstream.

Footage released by the El Paso Fire Department shows rescuers in yellow life jackets and helmets guiding a blue raft through fast, muddy water and hauling it to a muddy bank on Sunday, November 2.

Members of the El Paso Fire Water Rescue team were deployed as part of Texas Task Force 1, alongside Denton Fire, the department said. That day, crews rescued eight people and eight animals stranded by high floodwaters, with homes damaged or destroyed.

The flooding was caused by rising river levels after heavy rainfall in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, the department said.
