Suspect Shoots At Sheriff’s Drone During Armed Standoff
Investigators now believe Erik Gordon Shunn fired more than 200 rounds during the August 29 shooting incident and subsequent SWAT standoff on S. Rocky Bluff Lane.
The gunfire included shots directed at arborists, as well as additional rounds fired into the air at a Sheriff’s Office drone flying over the residence to determine Shunn’s position.
Released video shows Shunn firing at the Sheriff’s Office drone before a CCSO SWAT vehicle pins his tractor.
SWAT personnel chose to pin the tractor after Shunn became separated from his rifle while driving near the front of the residence. They believed the opportunity offered the highest likelihood of safely apprehending him.
On August 31, Shunn was arraigned in Clackamas County Circuit Court on charges including Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Recklessly Endangering, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing, Unlawful Possession of Firearms, Attempted Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, and Interfering with a Peace Officer.
Shunn is being held without bail at Clackamas County Jail.
Detectives are seeking information about neighboring properties or vehicles damaged by the gunfire and from people who know or have encountered Shunn that could help investigators understand his criminal actions on August 29.
