Semi-Truck Rockets Up Colorado Runaway Ramp And Disappears Into A Massive Dust Cloud
A semi-truck leaves westbound Interstate 70 while coming down Eisenhower Pass and races up a steep gravel runaway truck ramp, sending a huge white dust cloud into the air.
Video filmed by X user Connor Storer shows the rig passing a yellow RUNAWAY TRUCK RAMP sign before continuing far up the hillside. The dust plume swallows the trees and the sign as other traffic stays on the paved lanes.
Storer posted the clip on September 6, 2026, and later said he filmed it that Sunday. The scene matches westbound Interstate 70 coming down Eisenhower Pass, where two escape ramps are located west of the Eisenhower-Johnson tunnels.
Colorado State Patrol later circulated similar footage from the stretch to remind drivers to merge left if a runaway truck is behind them, because Colorado ramps are on the right shoulder.
CSP says the Lower Straight Creek ramp at mile marker 211.83 is the most-used runaway truck ramp in Colorado and the United States.
No injuries or highway crash were reported from this use of the ramp.
