Police Tackle Motorcyclist Off Bike After He Flees Ontario Crash Scene
A York Regional Police officer tackled a motorcyclist off his bike after the rider left a collision scene and continued driving despite being told he was under arrest.
The incident happened on August 9, 2026, after the 42-year-old rider was involved in a collision and told to return to the scene to exchange information.
Police said the rider refused, made a gesture indicating “no” and continued eastbound. The officer later told a colleague over the radio that he had yelled at the rider to pull over and motioned toward the parking lot.
Officers found the motorcyclist stopped near 16th Avenue and Mural Street. Video shows the officer slowly driving onto the grass, exiting his cruiser and approaching from behind before tackling the rider off the motorcycle and onto the ground.
The officer then arrested him. Another officer later held up an Ontario license plate reading “RUN THIS,” which police said was not authorized for the motorcycle.
The rider faces charges of failing to stop after an accident, flight from a peace officer, driving with no insurance, failing to disclose insurance particulars and using an unauthorized plate.
Police reported no injuries from the crash or arrest.
