Police Find 28 Migrants Hidden In Two Safe Houses In Ceuta, Arrest Three
Spanish National Police found 28 irregular migrants hidden in two buildings being used as “safe houses” in the Barriada del Príncipe and Loma Colmenar areas.
Three people were arrested in connection with the operation, while three of the migrants found were minors and were transferred to city care services.
One of the properties in El Príncipe was an unfinished two-storey building with no running water, electricity, kitchen or proper ventilation. Police said people were sleeping on mattresses placed directly on the floor.
The second property was located in Loma Colmenar. Police said those staying in the buildings paid in cash or through construction work carried out on the properties.
According to police, the scheme had generated more than €10,000 since migrants arrived following the late-July border crossings.
Footage released by the Spanish National Police shows the cramped rooms, with mattresses, clothing and bags scattered around the unfinished buildings, followed by officers escorting people outside and placing a detainee into a police car.
