Police Charge Striking Metalworkers at Navantia Shipyard Gates in Cartagena
Police charged at striking metal workers at the entrances to the Navantia shipyard in the Spanish port city of Cartagena on Wednesday, October 28, on the second day of an indefinite strike in the metal sector.
The Cartagena branch of the anarcho-syndicalist union Unión Anarcosindicalista posted the footage on X, saying two of its members had been arrested.
“Police charges at the entrances to the Navantia shipyard during the second day of the indefinite metal strike in Cartagena. Two comrades arrested,” the union wrote. It accused the military of letting strikebreakers in through the gates of the naval arsenal.
The strike is part of a dispute over the metal industry’s collective agreement in the Murcia region.
