Miners Break Police Barricade During Tense Protest March In Ankara

Video filmed by X user İnan Mutlu shows Doruk Madencilik miners and their supporters forcing their way through a police metal barricade in Kurtuluş Park as they marched toward the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.

The footage shows a determined crowd, many wearing yellow hard hats and some shirtless, surging forward together. Protesters lift and knock down the barriers while shouting, with visible tension as security forces remain nearby. Red flags and banners wave as people record the moment on their phones.

Posted with the caption “Barricade broken,” the video captures a key moment in the miners’ escalating protest. The workers had walked from Eskişehir to Ankara to demand unpaid salaries and lost rights.

By April 27, 2026, the miners were on hunger strike and had faced repeated police blockades, the use of pepper spray, and detentions. Supporters helped them break through the barriers so the march could continue.

The scene highlights the miners’ determination in their labor struggle against the company and authorities.
