Lost Dog Walks Into Police Station And Gets Reunited With Owner Hours Later
A German shepherd that wandered into a Tampa police station was reunited with its owner hours later after officers arranged a veterinary check and used the dog’s microchip to identify its family.
The dog arrived at the Tampa Police Department’s District Two office on September 30 and followed an officer inside. A veterinarian examined the animal and found no health concerns before a microchip scan provided the owner’s information.
Hours later, an officer went to the owner’s home to bring the dog back. The reunion was emotional, with the owner, who had been searching for the dog that morning, struggling to believe police had found it.
The department shared the story on October 7, joking that the unexpected visitor was applying to become a police K-9. The roster, however, was already full.
