Himalayas Stretch Alongside Air India Flight In Stunning View From Nepal
Snow-covered Himalayan peaks appeared almost level with an Air India passenger flight departing Kathmandu for Delhi on September 10, 2026.
The footage, filmed by X user Yasuni Manikkage, shows a thick layer of clouds below the aircraft, with a winding river visible through a gap. Two snow-covered formations rise above the horizon against a clear blue sky.
As the camera zooms toward the ridgeline, a sharp triangular summit remains visible on the left, while a broader ice-covered massif stretches across the right. The clouds remain below the peaks throughout the view.
Manikkage said she was looking down from the plane hoping to catch a glimpse of the Himalayas before realizing the mountains were almost parallel to the aircraft.
The footage was taken on an Air India flight from Kathmandu to Delhi at 7:30 a.m., while Manikkage was traveling home to Sri Lanka from Nepal.
The flight followed a scheduled Kathmandu–Delhi route rather than a dedicated mountain sightseeing flight. The Himalayas appeared roughly parallel to the aircraft along the route.
A commenter suggested the peaks could be the Annapurna range, but the specific mountains were not confirmed.
