Giant Pumpkin-Headed Figure Looms Over New York Rooftop
A towering pumpkin-headed character has taken over a rooftop in Manhattan’s West Village, with enormous spiders crawling down the facade below it as New York City gears up for Halloween.
X user NYC Photographer filmed the display at the corner of Christopher Street and Waverly Place on October 18, showing the grinning jack-o’-lantern figure with outstretched arms perched on top of the building while oversized, brightly colored spiders cling to webs stretched across its windows. A giant skeleton stands guard near the entrance.
The rooftop figure can be seen from several blocks away, rising above the neighborhood’s red-brick buildings, outdoor dining sheds and tree-lined streets as passers-by and diners go about their evening below.
The West Village is one of several Manhattan neighborhoods where residents go all-out with elaborate decorations each October, turning brownstones and apartment buildings into seasonal attractions for locals and tourists alike.
