A giant inflatable Halloween pumpkin broke free from a yard and rolled into traffic on Main Street in downtown Dubuque after strong winds sent the decoration bouncing across the roadway.

The roughly 10-foot orange jack-o’-lantern rolled and bounced between lanes, moving close to parked and passing vehicles. One SUV swerved to avoid the runaway decoration as it crossed the street.

Dubuque Police Lt. Luke Bock confirmed the incident and noted the potential hazard posed by the windblown inflatable. No injuries or significant damage were reported.

The City of Dubuque shared the traffic-camera footage with a humorous caption referencing Chamillionaire’s song, writing, “They see me rollin’…inflated…”

Officials used the incident as a lighthearted safety reminder for residents to secure outdoor Halloween decorations, including inflatables, ghosts and skeletons, so strong winds do not send them into traffic.
