Beach Erosion Gives Way As Man Falls Into Waves In New Jersey
This is the moment an eroded section of beach gives way beneath a man, sending him slipping into the water and foam, in footage filmed by X user Zach Blum.
Video shows the steep, cracked sand drop-off at the edge of the beach as waves wash the wet sand below.
The man steps onto the eroded sand before slipping and falling into the water. After the fall, the camera shows his muddy jeans, blue shirt and sneaker as he stands back up on the wet beach.
The poster said the wall collapsed from erosion on the morning of September 23, 2026, and that he went into the ocean. In related posts, he described at least four feet of beach erosion around 6:15 a.m.
The National Weather Service had a High Surf Advisory, High Rip Current Risk and Coastal Flood Warning for the area, with 6-to-12-foot breaking waves and a forecast of significant beach erosion and possible dune breaching.
The “wall” in the footage was an eroded sand scarp, not a masonry seawall.
