Water Main Bursts Into Jet Of Water On Rome Street
This is the moment a damaged water main sends a jet of water shooting from a flooded construction pit on a city street, captured by X user Morelembaum.
Footage shows water spraying from muddy water beside rocks and an open manhole, with mesh fencing and orange barriers surrounding the worksite.
The incident happened on the morning of September 22, 2026, at the worksite for the new tram 19 terminus in Rome’s Prati district on Viale delle Milizie near Via Otranto.
Residents found a pool of water and a column of water at around 7:45 a.m. ACEA crews arrived at about 10:45 a.m.
Neighbours filmed the jet and shared it as an “urban geyser.”
The works are connected to the tram 19 line and Metro C. The incident was caused by a broken water pipe and was not a geothermal geyser.
