Pokemon Fans Camp Overnight As 30th Anniversary Cards Go On Sale In UK

Pokémon fans camped outside Smyths overnight as the Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration set went on sale on September 16.

Video filmed by X user Peter Lim shows early arrivals sitting outside the Crawley store under streetlights, with a pink tent pitched by the entrance.

By morning, the pavement was lined with camping chairs and blankets as shoppers waited outside the store. Lim wrote that he was “45th in the queue.”

Inside, the store filled with collectors, with long lines stretching toward the tills among displays of Nintendo Switch consoles, Xbox products and boxed toys.

The Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration set went on sale worldwide on September 16, with overnight queues reported at Smyths and other UK toy shops.

Collectors called the release one of the biggest card drops in a decade.
