Norway Fans Turn Times Square Into A Roaring Sea Of Red After Historic World Cup Win

Video filmed by X user André “Noruega” Ostgaard shows Norwegian football fans turning Times Square into a roaring sea of red on a rainy night in early July 2026 as they celebrated during the FIFA World Cup with their famous “Viking Row” chant.

Videos from multiple angles show thousands of supporters wearing red jerseys, waving Norwegian flags, and wearing traditional Viking helmets as they moved together in the signature rowing motion while chanting, “Row! Row! Row!”

Fireworks and flares illuminated the sky above the famous billboards as fans celebrated in the pouring rain. Some supporters climbed onto shoulders and railings while the crowd cheered throughout the celebration.

The scenes followed Norway’s stunning 2-1 victory over Brazil in the Round of 16, with Erling Haaland scoring both goals to send Norway into the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in the country’s history.

The celebration showed Norwegian supporters bringing their unique, high-energy tradition to the heart of Manhattan, creating unforgettable scenes beneath the bright lights of Times Square.
