Knicks Fans Packed Onto Truck As Roof Collapses During New York City Championship Parade

Video filmed by X user Robert “Bobby” Bacala captured a dramatic moment during the New York Knicks NBA championship victory parade through Manhattan when fans gathered on top of a city sanitation truck and its roof gave way.

In a crowded section of the parade route, dozens of fans climbed onto the roof and flatbed of a white sanitation truck. People wearing Knicks jerseys and casual clothing scaled the sides of the vehicle, with some sitting along the edges while others continued climbing higher.

As more fans joined those already on top, the truck swayed under the growing weight. The scene unfolded amid loud cheers from spectators surrounding the vehicle. Buildings and parade signs could be seen in the background as the incident played out during the celebration.

The collapse of the truck’s roof drew attention to safety concerns during the massive ticker-tape parade marking the Knicks’ first championship in decades. Thousands of people lined the streets, and many sought elevated viewing positions on vehicles and structures, contributing to the dramatic moment caught on camera.
