Chaos as Frenzied Fans Mob London Palladium on Night Harry Kane Wins Ballon d’Or
Crowds of football fans packed the entrance of the London Palladium on Monday, October 26, as stars arrived for the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where England captain Harry Kane was crowned the world’s best player.
X user AirPods Guy filmed the scenes at the theatre’s Oxford Street entrance, where fans held phones high and cheered as guests in suits walked the red carpet behind barriers and security staff. “Crazy scenes at The London Palladium,” he wrote.
The start of the ceremony was delayed by traffic and congestion around the venue. Later that night, Kane, the 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker, became the first Englishman to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001, ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal.
Spain’s Alexia Putellas won the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time, while Yamal was named best young player and Bukayo Saka received the Socrates Award for his humanitarian work.
